With the craft beer boom of recent years, Guadalajara’s love for the legendary drink of malt and hops has been reborn, and there is no shortage of places in the city where you can sit down and enjoy a good beer.
Updated in October 2026. Casa Hikuri, Silvestre and Bazar Malta, which were part of the original 2017 list, are no longer operating, so we replaced them with three places that are open and well rated today. Addresses and opening hours were checked in October 2026.

There are plenty of bars and pubs to savor Stouts and Porters and to taste IPAs and Lagers, to try the latest imports and to revisit the flavor of old favorites.
This time we share the ones we visit most often, places with selections and atmospheres to suit different tastes. Most are concentrated in Colonia Americana, the neighborhood with the liveliest beer scene in the city, so you can visit several in a single night.
1. Cervecería La Blanca
Cervecería La Blanca is a place that brews its own excellent craft beer. A temple for true lovers of the drink. The “blanca” beer that gives it its name is a fantastic German style weissbier, and the house bills itself as the first wheat beer in Mexico.
Its other varieties include “Blanca Bock”, “Blanca Negra”, “Blanca Lupulada” and “Blanca Oscura”. I particularly recommend the Bock, which can be a good beer to start with if you are not yet a big craft beer fan, and the Lupulada if you already are.
If you are not sure what to order, you can try the different varieties in small samples.
- Lope de Vega 127, Arcos Vallarta
- Own beer
- Posted hours: Monday to Saturday, 14:00 to 1:00
2. Amargo Cervecería
Colonia Americana has become a nightlife landmark in the city. Half a block from the Templo Expiatorio you will find Amargo Cervecería. Its name refers to the flavor that hops bring to beer, although the experience it offers is anything but bitter.
This small, cozy spot offers a relaxed atmosphere with music chosen to break the monotony. It has 16 craft beer lines on draft and more than 200 labels in bottles and cans, both for newcomers to this world and for the most experienced drinkers.
The place is run by its owners and people from the beer world, so if you have questions or want a recommendation you can trust that you are in the best hands.
Be sure to try its kitchen, with dishes made with craft beer such as the house specialty, cochinita pibil marinated in IPA.
- Prisciliano Sánchez 807, Col. Americana, Guadalajara, Jalisco, C.P. 44160
- Multi brand, 16 taps

3. Santa Sabina Americana
In the original list we recommended Silvestre for the chance to order Santa Sabina beer served straight from its microbrewery. Silvestre closed, and the same address is now home to Santa Sabina Americana, the brewpub of the Guadalajara brewery itself.
They have brewed their beer on site for more than a decade, with labels such as La Rosalía and Hop Hop Hurra, and they have a terrace. In 2026 it ranks among the ten best rated bars in the city on Restaurant Guru.
- Vidrio 1888, Col. Americana, Guadalajara, Jalisco
- Own beer
4. Malta 33
Malta 33 is the ideal place to discover the craft beers of Guadalajara and its surroundings, because it only pours beer from Jalisco on its rotating taps.
It is run directly by its owners, who can guide you in choosing a beer based on your taste or your craving of the day.
Its events to meet the people who brew the beer you are drinking are, without a doubt, an experience you can trust.
On the food side you can enjoy anything from traditional charales with salsa and lime to tostadas de cueritos and other traditional snacks from the state.
Definitely a very cozy place in the heart of Santa Tere.
- Calle Hospital 1557, Santa Teresita, Guadalajara, Jal.
- Jalisco beer only, rotating taps
- Posted hours: Tuesday to Saturday, from 17:30
5. Patán Ale House
Patán is one of the busiest beer houses in Colonia Americana, with 24 rotating taps devoted to Mexican craft beer and a rooftop terrace.
It has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from almost 3,000 Google reviews, one of the highest among the city’s bars. It is a good stop to try breweries from other states without leaving Guadalajara.
- José María Morelos 1281, Col. Americana, Guadalajara, Jalisco
- Multi brand, Mexican beer
6. Loba Gastropub
Cerveza Loba is a Guadalajara brewery founded in 2015 and cofounded by Alejandro Magallanes, whom we interviewed when he was president of ACERMEX. Its gastropub is on the second floor of the brewery itself.
The house beer is served there from a menu of about nine styles, alongside food designed for pairing. It is the most direct way to taste Loba fresh from the tanks.

Which Other Guadalajara Breweries Are Worth Trying?
For those who want to venture beyond the Americana, Búnker Brew Club occupies an underground bunker from 1945 in Colonia Seattle, in Zapopan, with hoppy and seasonal beers. You need to book in advance through Instagram.
Among Guadalajara brands, Minerva is one of the pioneers of craft beer in the city, and its founder told its story in our interview with Jesús Briseño. And to round out the tour, it is worth reviewing these beer and Mexican food pairings.
